What is the difference between a broker and a damage insurance representative?

The damage insurance representative is hired by a specific insurance company. He represents the company and can only provide advice on the products offered by that company. The broker, on the other hand, is a certified professional capable of:

  • Advising you on a wide range of different products from different companies
  • Finding those that best meet your needs.

How is my premium calculated?

Many factors influence the amount of a premium, such as where you live, the type of car you drive, its year, brand and model, what you use it for as well as your driving record, experience and past claims. To better understand all the variables, don't hesitate to contact one of our agents. He or she will be able to explain clearly all the elements that went into the calculation of your rate.

Must I declare all losses, casualties, accidents, etc.?

It is not necessary to declare everything. Every claim can later affect your file. It's important to evaluate whether you need to make the claim, because doing so might cause an increase in your rates and affect future claims that could be larger.

How do I know which loss to claim?

There are no precise rules for this. The decision must be taken by the insured person. It is up to him or her to evaluate the real needs. Our brokers can help guide you in a claim and give you advice in order to help you make an informed decision.

After a loss, how much time do I have to submit my claim?

The general rules stipulates that you have one year following the loss date (in all provinces except Manitoba and Yukon, which allow two years), but under the conditions of your policy, you are required to report a loss immediately so that the claims department can investigate the situation and facilitate the claims process.

What document must I provide in the event of a loss?

Any document that is directly linked with your request and with the reimbursement requested. In other words, anything that you can provide such as original bills, photographs and evaluations in order to properly document your claim
